~sticmann's speedpaint challenge: Famous Landmark

I chose one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. Because I can. :D

30min Photoshop and tablet

EDIT Updated the background to lighten it up a little.

Oooh atmospheric....and you were complaining about not being able to make the time limit not even half a day ago! Great job and nice choice of landmark.
I don't think it's too dark. Although it is somewhat lacking in high values, so perhaps a bit of highlighting behind the tower would have punched the silhouette out more. I am also sure now that my display needs attention! I'm on a laptop with one of those True life (glossy highly reflective) lcd screens. It's very bright! I do have a crt lying around which I think I will use to aid in final leveling of all my stuff from now on...
oh man! *just realised I could have double the screen space to work on* duh. Lets see if I can incorporate that into my workflow...

Thank you! I like how this one turned out. I've never really done 'atmospheric' and I was going for that! (gaping holes in my art education) Yes I am quite proud of myself for sticking to the time limit... :bows: though I did spend another 10 min on it later to lighten up the background because of the feedback that it was dark. Does that count? ;) Yep, it could use a little more contrast, but one thing at a time, right?

 Dual screens are AWESOME. Had them at work and it was hard to come home to a single one. I have two monitors, but would need to get a new graphics card to use both. :(

I tend not to count the bit of extra fixing so much. You still learned what you did in the 30 mins. My only issue with double screens, may be that I wouldn't be able to actually work on the image in both since they would look very different? Was thinking maybe just a place to hold all those extra tools, brushes, motivational messages :D and so on. Will try it out today anyway

You made the time limit! Yay!

Yeah, it's a bit dark. Even on my screen.

I like it. It's a pretty solid layout. Nothing too fancy but it works.
It is very dark on my monitor.

I think my monitor is probably too bright.

I'm having the same issue with some of Amit's stuff as well.

How do your blacks and whites look?

I think my whites are a little warm and my blacks probably could be blacker. So yeah, could probably turn it down. Acutally I had it at 30% when I painted that and after I turned it down it does look a little dark. But it's stormy, so that's okay.
